By late July, New England skin has been through a lot.
There has been sun, heat, humidity, saltwater, sunscreen, travel, and probably at least one day when you forgot to reapply.
You may be noticing more congestion, dehydration, sensitivity, uneven tone, or pigmentation than you saw at the beginning of the season.
The good news? It is not too late to care for your summer skin. This is actually one of our favorite times to reset, support the barrier, and begin planning for fall.
Start With a Reset, Not an Overhaul
When skin feels dull or congested, the temptation is to reach for every exfoliating product you own.
More is not always better.
Over-cleansing, layering too many active ingredients, or using aggressive exfoliation on sun-stressed skin can lead to more irritation. Before adding something new, look at what your skin needs right now.
Late-summer skin often benefits from:
-
Gentle cleansing
-
Thoughtful exfoliation
-
Hydration
-
Barrier support
-
Antioxidants
-
Consistent sun protection
A professional consultation can help you determine whether your skin needs exfoliation, calming, hydration—or a combination of all three.
Treatments We Love for a Late-Summer Refresh
A customized facial is a wonderful place to begin because it can be adjusted to your skin’s condition that day.
Depending on your needs, your treatment may incorporate:
-
Gentle exfoliation
-
Dermaplaning
-
Hydrating or calming masks
-
LED therapy
-
Congestion support
-
Barrier-focused products
-
Personalized home-care recommendations
Not every client needs every step. That is why we begin with a skin analysis and build the facial around you.
If you have an active sunburn, irritation, or an upcoming beach vacation, tell us. We may adjust the treatment or recommend waiting.
What About Chemical Peels and Microneedling?
Chemical peels and Collagen Induction Therapy are not automatically “off-limits” during summer. Timing depends on your skin, the specific treatment, your recent sun exposure, and whether you can follow the aftercare instructions.
We may recommend waiting if you:
-
Have an active sunburn or tan
-
Recently experienced significant sun exposure
-
Have a beach vacation approaching
-
Cannot avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during recovery
-
Are experiencing irritation or a compromised barrier
For some clients, late summer is a good time to begin the consultation process and reserve a fall series. That gives us time to prepare the skin, review your home routine, and select the right treatment schedule.
This Is the Perfect Time to Plan for Fall
Fall tends to be a natural season for more focused skin treatments. Outdoor schedules change, sun exposure becomes easier to manage, and many clients are ready to address what summer left behind.
Your fall plan might focus on:
-
Uneven tone
-
Sun-related pigmentation
-
Fine lines
-
Acne scarring
-
Texture
-
Collagen support
-
Dehydration
-
Barrier repair
Planning now means we can approach those concerns strategically instead of reacting to them all at once.
Your Sunscreen Still Matters
Sunscreen is not just for the beach—and it does not become optional after Labor Day.
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. When outdoors, reapply approximately every two hours and after swimming or sweating.
Review the AAD’s sunscreen recommendations
You do not need the most expensive sunscreen on the shelf. You need one that offers the right protection, works with your skin, and feels good enough that you will apply the proper amount consistently.
Professionally curated formulas can be helpful when you need a particular texture, tint, finish, or compatibility with other products. But no formula can protect you when it stays in the bottle.
Don’t Experiment Right Before an Event
If you have a wedding, reunion, vacation, or photography session coming up, this is not the moment to try an aggressive new treatment or completely change your skincare routine.
Give your skin time.
A gentle, familiar facial may provide a beautiful refresh, but the right timing depends on the treatment and your skin history. Tell us about important dates during your consultation so we can plan accordingly.
Late Summer Is Not Too Late
You have not “ruined” your skin because you spent time outside or missed a few perfect skincare days.
This is simply the time to pay attention, reset what needs support, and make a thoughtful plan for the season ahead.
At Laura Jeannette Aesthetics, every treatment is selected with intention. No pressure, no one-size-fits-all protocol, and no unnecessary steps.
Book your late-summer skin consultation, and we’ll help you decide what makes sense now—and what is worth saving for fall.
