“Should I book a facial or microneedling?”
We hear this one a lot.
And the answer depends less on which treatment is “better” and more on what we are trying to accomplish with your skin.
A custom facial and Collagen Induction Therapy, also known as microneedling, can both be wonderful parts of a skincare plan. They simply do different jobs.
When a Custom Facial Makes Sense
A facial gives us the opportunity to evaluate what your skin needs right now.
At Laura Jeannette Aesthetics, custom skin treatments begin with a consultation and skin analysis. Depending on your skin and goals, your treatment may incorporate exfoliation, masks, LED therapy, dermaplaning, chemical peels, or other targeted steps.
A facial can be especially helpful if your skin feels:
-
Dry or dehydrated
-
Congested
-
Dull
-
Sensitive
-
Uneven
-
In need of a reset
Facials are also an excellent way to maintain healthy skin between more advanced treatments.
And sometimes, you simply need an hour where someone else takes care of you.
That matters too.
When Microneedling Makes Sense
Microneedling takes us into a different category of treatment.
Collagen Induction Therapy uses controlled microchannels to stimulate the skin’s natural repair response.
We commonly recommend it when clients want to address concerns such as:
-
Uneven texture
-
Fine lines
-
Acne scarring
-
Loss of firmness
-
Overall skin quality
-
Certain pigmentation concerns
It is generally part of a longer-term treatment plan rather than something you book because you want a little glow before dinner Saturday night.
Does Microneedling Replace Facials?
No.
This is where people sometimes get caught up in the idea that an “advanced” treatment must make everything else unnecessary.
Healthy skin does not work that way.
You may use microneedling strategically throughout the year while continuing custom facials to support hydration, exfoliation, maintenance, and overall skin health.
The two can complement each other beautifully.
How Do You Know Which One You Need?
Ask yourself what your primary goal is.
If you want maintenance, hydration, professional exfoliation, or a customized reset, a facial may be the appropriate place to start.
If your goals involve improving texture, fine lines, scarring, or collagen support over time, we may discuss microneedling.
And if you have absolutely no idea?
That is what the consultation is for.
You should not have to diagnose your own skin from an Instagram Reel before making an appointment.
Your Treatment Plan Should Be Personal
One of the things we care most about at Laura Jeannette Aesthetics is avoiding one-size-fits-all skincare.
Not everyone needs microneedling.
Not everyone needs a peel.
Not everyone needs the same facial.
We look at your skin, your history, your goals, your current home care, and what is realistic for you.
Then we build from there.
